The Grand Tourist, hosted by veteran design journalist Dan Rubinstein, is one of the industry’s most respected platforms for conversations with the people shaping design, art, and culture. Kelly Wearstler opened the show’s tenth season. Rubinstein’s relationship with Wearstler predates the podcast: he first profiled her in 2005 after House & Garden named her one of its New Tastemakers, and later authored her monograph, Synchronicity. Their reunion brought the perspective of two decades spent watching both her creative vision and business evolve. The conversation traced her path from an unpaid apprenticeship with graphic designer Milton Glaser to building a sixty-person multidisciplinary studio while remaining deeply involved in its creative direction. She also discussed the studio’s early adoption of AI, trained on its own archive rather than generic datasets, and the business lessons she took from closing a fashion venture that wasn’t working. The Grand Tourist with Dan Rubinstein, "Kelly Wearstler: Interior Design's Tastemaking Dynamo.” Available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
We began working with AI in the studio in 2021, and it's become an integral part of our creative process since.
