Wearstler has always said lighting is everything: not an accessory to a room, but the mood of it, the thing that tells you how to feel before you've registered a single object underneath it. That belief predates any partner; it's just how she designs. Visual Comfort gave that belief somewhere to scale. Founded in Houston in 1987 on the idea that decorative lighting is a design deliverable and not just a fixture, the company has spent decades building manufacturing precise enough to take a designer's sculptural idea and produce it reliably, at range, well beyond what a bespoke lighting workshop could promise. Since 2018, that's exactly what Wearstler has used it for.

The Partnership

Wearstler has never separated how a fixture looks from how it shapes the room around it: the shadow it throws, the warmth of the glow, the way a space feels different the moment it's switched on. A beautiful silhouette that does none of that is a failed sculpture to her, not a design. She needed a partner that could guarantee both halves of that equation at once, and Visual Comfort's manufacturing scale is what makes the guarantee possible — sketch, model, render to scale, then hand it to craftsmen who can actually build it correctly at volume. It's the reason this is the longest-running relationship on her partner list: not a single collection, but a body of work that's had eight years to keep testing the same idea against new forms.

Kelly's Lighting

The range runs the full distance — dramatic chandeliers at one end, sleek sconces at the other, pendants and flush mounts in between — all built on Wearstler's habit of mixing raw and refined materials in the same fixture rather than picking a lane. Beyond the retail collections, she and Visual Comfort still collaborate on custom lighting for her residential, hospitality, and commercial projects. When Wearstler and Visual Comfort join forces, what results isn't a lamp. It's the mood the room was missing. And every collection after gets to set that mood a little differently.

Lighting plays a crucial role in a room's design narrative. Every collection starts with a deep exploration of craft materiality and form.
