An intimate jewel box within Downtown L.A. Proper, Dahlia draws from the Spanish and Mexican architecture of the 1920s building by Curlett & Beelman, alongside the Moorish influence of the neighboring Herald Examiner building. Conceived around the ritual of tableside cocktails, the lounge creates a more secluded setting within the hotel, with a character entirely its own. Local artists and designers bring another dimension to the interiors, with commissioned works forming Dahlia’s gallery wall.
Named for the dahlia flower, the lounge takes its warm palette from the bloom, with a vintage rug defining the specific shades carried through the Zellige-tiled bar and blush Roman plaster walls. The plaster shifts subtly with the changing light, giving the surfaces depth and nuance, while collaborations with artists and makers, including Judson Studios, bring a strong sense of craft to the interior.
