Black minimal furnishings in the entry recede into the background, allowing the home’s distinctive architecture to remain the focus. From there, the family room introduces greater warmth and texture, with a 1960s Turkish rug layered over seagrass to give the space dimension and architectural focus, alongside leather 1968 Pulkka lounge chairs by Ilmari Lappalainen. The interplay of old and new continues into the office, where a vintage 1987 Cassina marble table by Mario Bellini is surrounded by white plaster chairs by Lukas Gschwandtner. Woven wall art by Jean Alexander Frater creates a tactile counterpoint to the home’s original wood paneling.
The living room brings together an eclectic mix of twentieth-century pieces. A 1970s Cassina sofa sits alongside a longtime-owned triangular side table, concrete planters from Inner Gardens, a 1950s jute-and-steel Rope Lounge Chair by Dan Johnson, and a Control Lamp by Mitchell Bobrick found in Palm Springs. From the living room, the house flows into a galley kitchen overlooking the garden, where sliding windows reinforce the connection to the landscape.
