This starts with marble being asked to do something stone was never built to do: look soft. She borrowed the geometry of weaving, an ancient practice rooted across cultures worldwide, and translated it directly into a stone with no obvious reason to cooperate. She named the whole collection for the idea itself: nudo, knot in Spanish — the thing that quietly ties disparate traditions, materials, and people together.
Creative Process
Every piece started as a digital sketch, refined into a render precise enough to calibrate the whole design before a single block of stone was ever chosen. From there, ARCA's robotic arm took over the labor no hand could manage at that scale and precision, carving the interior geometries the knot motif required. A master carver finished each piece by hand afterward — the only way to get the softness the collection depends on. Robotic precision shapes the stone; a master carver's hand finishes it, turning one of the hardest materials available into something that reads as genuinely soft.
Nudo is knot in Spanish. The universal craft of weaving is rooted in ancient cultures from across the globe, and each piece in NUDO pays homage to that history. Our presentation with ARCA is an expression of what binds us together as the world converges in Miami to celebrate art and design.
